Life in the Spirit

From the very beginning, before Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, God had a plan to redeem his children.  It is very sobering to think that God knows everything from beginning to the end and on to eternity.  He knows the choices we will make, how we will respond to his corrections, when we will surrender to him, and how long it will take us to get with His program for our lives.

We know that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. [Romans 3:23]  Those who have heard the truth, believed it, and accepted the gift of God’s salvation, Jesus Christ, no longer fall short; we are righteous by His grace. Jesus was the perfect sacrificial lamb; there was no wrong in Him. When He defeated death from the cross through His resurrection, he washed away all our sins (past, present and future). We are no longer condemned by the law which said, “If you sin, you die.”  For those who have accepted Jesus as Savior, grace rules our lives, not the law.

Although we will continue to sin until Jesus comes back and provides us with sinless bodies, we have work to do on our spiritual walk.

We should be…

·         Surrendering our will as the Holy Spirit works to make us clean and God reveals the work He has planned for us do.

·         Growing closer to God through His word. Jesus is a part of us, we should learn as much as we can to keep in step with Him and to have the tools to survive this world.

·         Living out the greatest commandments that Jesus left us: [Matthew 22:37, 39]

§   “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul

  and with all your mind.”

§  “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

·         Placing our trust and hope in Jesus to help us to persevere through all problems and situations. We can go confidently to God for help. [Hebrews 4:16]

·         Worshiping and praising Him in “Spirit and Truth” [John 4:23-24]

·         Serving and providing for His church with gratitude and love.

·         Remaining prayerful and seeking forgiveness when we sin or get in a rut on our spiritual walk.

·         “Telling it on the mountain” to our children, friends, family and whoever will listen.  God has asked us to pass on the historical biblical events from generation to generation. The world no longer cares, we have to.

Thank God that the Holy Spirit takes care of everything else. As we surrender, the Holy Spirit will renew our minds, and transform (change) us. We are becoming new, fresh, clean, worthy of a holy God. God knows and sees everything and is everywhere all the time; He knows what is best for us. If we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us and we follow as directed, we stay close to God, where our help comes from. We will be ready and not caught off guard when Jesus returns.
