Future Salvation
Future salvation is the hope that
sustains us now. It is the essence that feeds our perseverance to deal with the
craziness of this world, our courage to go beyond personal safety boundaries to
submit to God’s will, our strength to face obstacles to spiritual growth and
our struggle fight our sinful nature to become more Christ-like.
This past Sunday, a couple of
children asked if they would really see God and Jesus when they got to
heaven. Would they both be there for
real? The questions are truly
understandable given what they have already seen of this world in their young
lives. Praise God that we get to be in His presence even though our minds
(adults and children) cannot fully comprehend such an awesome event.
We also talked about…
- The new bodies we would receive; there
would be no sickness, which included no coughing or stomach aches.
- How quickly Jesus would take us, in a
flash, in the twinkling of an eye, (1Corinthians 15:52)
and what would happen to the world as we (God’s church) disappeared (chaos).
- Seeing the gates of heaven
- Being happy and not crying anymore
- Seeing loved ones again, who died in
Christ before us
Our future salvation holds for us the promise of a new
heaven and a new earth; a fresh start, where God and Jesus lives among us. A
place where there is no night, no need for the moon or the sun, because the
glory of God and Jesus gives us the light. (Revelation
21:22-25). There will be no shame, deceit and nothing impure. What a
wonderful day that will be, total peace!
We can depend on this promise; we know that God cannot
lie. As we live day to day in this fallen world, we can keep our focus on the
things of God, not grow weary, and not give up the struggle to keep on path toward
Jesus. We have everything that Jesus has prepared for us, to look forward to.
The best part of all is that we get to live like this forever. How awesome is
that?
