Romans 8:1. The significance of the following, in terms of a believer’s spiritual development:

1.  The use and placement of the word “therefore”in vs 1. – Therefore, highlights the promise to those who have placed their faith and trust in Jesus Christ, that our sin nature no longer controls us, that we are not condemned but are considered as righteous because of our belief in the sacrifice that Jesus completed on the cross for all sins.

2.  The use and placement of the word “now”in vs 1. – Now means that the promise is fulfilled immediately; just as we are (sin and all) at the time we confess our belief and ask for forgiveness. When we place our faith in Jesus Christ our sins are covered by his sacrifice, we are no longer condemned.
